Our MacuShield Gold formula combines all three macular carotenoids, and also contains zinc to help maintain normal vision. MacuShield Gold also contains Vitamin C and Vitamin E which help to protect cells from oxidative stress. MacuShield Gold is a food supplement for eye health containing lutein (10mg), zeaxanthin (2mg) and meso-zeaxanthin (10mg), and also contains Vitamin B2 which is proven to help maintain normal vision. Scientific research shows that these three nutrients are found at the back of the eye, at the macula, where they form the macula pigment (yellow colour). Meso-zeaxanthin is particularly concentrated at the centre of this pigment. The macula is a specialist parts of the eye that is responsible for detailed, central vision. Lutein and zeaxanthin can be found in fruits and dark green leafy vegetables and meso-zeaxanthin is present in some species of fish and seafood. The macula carotenoids in MacuShield are obtained from marigolds (Tagetus Erecta), specifically grown for this purpose. MacuShield Gold contains zinc which is scientifically proven to support eye health by helping to maintain normal vision. MacuShield Gold is an easy to take soft gel capsule. The tablets should be taken three times a day, with food or a meal. MacuShield Gold capsules are blister packed, gluten free, not tested on animals, and manufactured in the UK.
